The GWEC is a specified division within the US-Sino Innovation Alliance (USIA), an IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, focusing on USIA's innovation activities. Members of GWEC are also considered USIA members. USIA, also an IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, launched GWEC in 2025 in association with CAST-DC.
