During the three-hour event, Dr. Daozhan Yu, who is also the Vice President of the club and the founder and CEO of AAVnerGene, began by introducing the company's development journey to the visiting group. Founded in 2019, this startup has rapidly emerged as a new force in the gene therapy field, thanks to its breakthrough innovations in Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) vector technology. Dr. Daozhan Yu and co-founder Dr. Qizhao Wang also provided a detailed explanation of the company's core technological advantages, including its efficient AAV production system, unique capsid protein modification platform, and tissue-targeting optimization solutions. "Our technology platform can significantly enhance AAV production efficiency and gene delivery efficacy, while markedly reducing immunogenicity risks and toxic side effects," Dr. Yu stated during the technology sharing session. "This offers a better solution for gene therapies treating both rare and common diseases." In the Q&A session, attendees engaged in lively discussions on topics such as the commercialization pathways for gene therapy, regulatory challenges, and market prospects.
The visiting group then toured the company's R&D laboratories and production workshops, gaining a firsthand understanding of the AAV vector preparation process and quality control systems. Participants expressed that the event provided a valuable platform for communication and mutual learning among entrepreneurs, offering them direct insight into the latest technological advancements in the gene therapy field, and creating excellent opportunities for in-depth collaboration between industry, academia, and research sectors.
Following the successful inaugural event, Jun Zhao, Vice President of the Washington Entrepreneurship Club and the event's initiator, emphasized that the club will continue to organize a series of "Company Visit" activities to deepen the connection and cooperation of innovative resources. Yubin Ye, President of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance, and Rongtao Xu, President of the Washington Entrepreneurship Club, highly praised the event. They unanimously stated: "Such activities are of great significance for promoting the construction of an innovative and entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Greater Washington area.
